Executives from companies such as Intel, PwC and Google convened at the sold out conference to discuss design thinking, intrapreneurialism and balancing innovation with productivity
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., May 17, 2017 – Watermark, the Bay Area’s largest membership organization dedicated to increasing the number of women in leadership positions, successfully completed its annual Watermark Innovation Conference in Silicon Valley. More than 200 executive women and men attended the sold-out conference at Oracle Santa Clara on Friday, April 28.
The auditorium was packed for an engaging keynote with bareMinerals founder Leslie Blodgett, panels on intrapreneurialism and balancing innovation with productivity with executives from Intel, FireEye, GE Digital and more, as well as a design thinking workshop and fireside chat with Google, Massdrop and Method Garage. Demonstrations from Oracle's UX team and students from Design Tech High School, the first public charter school on a corporate campus focused on design thinking, rounded out the day. A portion of the day’s proceeds benefited the school's programs designed to help fuel the next generation of female innovators.
“Each speaker taught me something new and different, all sharing the message to push through to the next step,” said Donna Flores, Global Employer Brand and Communications Specialist, Ericsson. “Leslie Blodgett’s keynote was particularly awesome and inspiring. I enjoyed hearing her stories and seeing how we all go through the same fears.”
“It was an inspiring and invigorating conference, with important discussions occurring both on and off stage,” said Marlene Williamson, Watermark CEO. “Now, more than ever, we need to support female innovation and growth, particularly in one of the most innovative and creative regions in the world.”
Watermark’s signature conferences are aimed to educate, inspire and connect emerging and senior female executives in the Bay Area. In addition to the annual Watermark Conference for Women held at the beginning of each year, Watermark hosts tailored events focused on innovation (spring), leadership (summer) and entrepreneurship (fall). The Watermark Leadership Conference will be held at Intuit in Mountain View, CA, on July 14, 2017.
Watermark hosts more than 50 events each year, including webinars, networking receptions, speaker series and workshops. Upcoming events can be found here.
