20th Year of Honoring Outstanding Women  

PALO ALTO, CALIF. – Oct. 1, 2015 – Watermark, a community of Bay Area executive women at the top of their fields – as well as those well on their way – today announces the five honorees who will be recognized at the annual Make Your Mark Awards set for:

The awards, now in their 20th year, honor Watermark members who embody the organization’s mission of increasing the representation of women in leadership roles by empowering them to make their mark for their companies, their careers and their communities.

Make Your Mark Awards: Winner Bios

Jacqueline Akerblom, West Region Managing Partner, Grant Thornton

Jacqueline Akerblom is managing partner of Grant Thornton LLP’s West region, which comprises 12 offices in the western United States. Grant Thornton is the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International, one of the world’s leading organizations of independent audit, tax and advisory firms.

Akerblom, a member of the firm’s Senior Leadership Team, was the national managing partner of Women’s Initiatives and Programs for Grant Thornton from 2007 to 2011, during which time the firm saw the number of women partners increase by 197 percent. A past elected member of the firm’s Partnership Board, she was also one of two U.S. partners appointed to the Grant Thornton International Board of Governors.

Akerblom serves on the board of directors of the Forum for Corporate Directors and Goodwill of Orange County. She earned her business administration in accounting degree from the University of San Diego.

Ayelet Baron, Founder, CreatingIs

Ayelet Baron is globally recognized as a leading futurist, entrepreneur and strategic innovation advisor. She has an impressive track record for scaling organizations, identifying new markets, leading virtual teams, building trusted communities, fueling innovation and surpassing performance targets.

Prior to co-founding CreatingIs, Baron was the chief strategy officer for Cisco Canada. Her leadership propelled Canada from the sixth- to the second-largest revenue-generating country for Cisco at nearly $2B. During her Cisco tenure, she was on the executive team of Emerging Markets and IT, focused on global sales, mobile strategy, organizational transformation, web enablement and go-to-market strategies.

Baron’s book, "Our Journey to Business Common Sense: What's New is Old," will be published at the end of the year.

Meg Bear, SVP and General Manager, Cloud Services, Imperva

Meg Bear lives and works at the intersection of people, business and technology. With more than 20 years of enterprise applications experience, Bear recently joined Imperva as SVP and General Manager, Cloud Services. Prior to that, she was General Manager of the Social Cloud for Oracle.

Skilled across a broad spectrum of functional domains including social, customer relationship management, manufacturing, financials and human resources, in addition to technical tools, implementations and methodologies, Bear has a proven track record of on-time product delivery and in industry-leading return on investment.

Bear is a mom, technology executive, keynote speaker, blogger, patent holder, intrapreneur, idea generator, change agent, disruptive technologist, TEDx San Jose co-host and enthusiastic TED conference attendee.

Julie Clugage, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Team4Tech

Julie Clugage is Co-Founder and Executive Director of Team4Tech, a non-profit that works to advance 21st century education in developing countries by connecting technology industry professionals and solutions with high-impact projects. 

Before founding Team4Tech, Clugage served as Global Operations and Communications Manager for Intel Corporation's Education Market Platforms Group, and Chief of Staff for the Vice President of Intel’s Corporate Affairs Group. She created the Intel Education Service Corps, which links Intel employees and technology with education non-profits in developing countries. This successful program serves as a tested model for Team4Tech. 

Clugage earned her masters in Public Affairs from Princeton University and her MBA from UC Berkeley and AB in Government and Economics from Dartmouth College. 

Mary Fuller, Managing Director and Associate General Counsel, IP, Maxim Integrated

Mary Fuller is Chief IP Counsel at Maxim Integrated Products, where she combines her technical expertise with her legal and business experience to advise and guide Maxim and its executive management. Her global responsibilities include patent, copyright, trademark and IP litigation strategy, as well as development, prosecution, disputes, licensing, acquisitions, policy, standards and IP-related commercial contracts. She also has primary responsibilities for Maxim's Cyber Security Steering Group.

Prior to Maxim, Fuller worked as director of Litigation at Marvell Semiconductor and, before that, at Bingham McCutchen and Pennie and Edmonds, where she worked on issues ranging from patent prosecution to patent litigation. 

Fuller earned her AAS in Electronic Technology from Glendale Community College in Arizona, BSEE from Northern Arizona University and her J.D., with honors, from the University of Notre Dame.
