Join Pam Jeffords and Madeleine Winslow from Mercer's When Women Thrive research and consulting practice as they delve into how diversity and inclusion is an enhancer for the shared future of the workforce. While much of the focus has been narrowly centered around the advancement and representation of women in the workplace, attention has been shifting to intersectionality- to encompass the various dimensions  of diversity and identities and how they intersect and relate to one another. Too often diversity and inclusion efforts target only one aspect, such as race or gender, discounting the complexities that shape employees' experiences. Drawing on the microcosm of the media and entertainment industry to indicate parallel trends in other sectors, the speakers will share how the conversations around diversity and inclusion do not just signify compliance but should acknowledge  its ability to enhance productivity, performance and talent engagement.

There are two sessions on Wednesday, October 17. The first is in San Francisco at Gensler from 8am-10am; the second is in Sunnyvale at NetApp from 5:30-7:30pm.

About Pam Jeffords

Pam Jeffords is a Partner at Mercer and a global expert on diversity and inclusion in the workplace. She advises global employers on how they can break through the inertia and drive progress with their gender diversity initiatives. She has been featured in numerous publications, including the National Association of Corporate Directors, Fortune magazine and as a contributor to Mercer’s research When Women Thrive, Businesses Thrive. Pam has deep expertise in: Establishing a global diversity and inclusion strategy | Building impactful business resource groups | Effectively managing leave and return to work programs | Industry experience in: Technology, Financial Services, Media & Entertainment, Aerospace & Defense, Consumer Products, Manufacturing and Pharma. Pam is a member of the Global Leadership Council for Colorado State University’s College of Business, board member of Spawn Ideas, member of the NACD, Limited Partner in The JumpFund, and has served as Chair of Women United for the Mile High United Way where she received the prestigious Frances Wisebart Jacobs award for philanthropy. Pam holds an undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Georgia State University. Pam lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and four children.  

About Madeleine Winslow

Madeleine is a project manager for Mercer’s When Women Thrive research and consulting practice and is based in Seattle. She provides the team with project management, research, client sales and marketing support. While the advancement of women in the workplace has been a passion for Madeleine for quite some time, a particular interest is the financial wellness of women and the employer's role for women’s retirement and short-term finances. Prior to joining Mercer, Madeleine worked for the Centers for Disease Control to create public health policy related to the formerly incarcerated and their communities. Madeleine also spent several years as a local government consultant to connect government officials with their constituents by tailoring surveys to the community and sharing data with city councils to make smarter choices for policies and budgets. Outside of work, Madeleine volunteers with Books for Prisoners, an organization focused on the literacy of those who are incarcerated. Madeleine holds an undergraduate degree from Boston University in international relations and public health.
