AFTERNOON KEYNOTE FEATURE: Dr. Melanie Matheu

Friday | March 8 | 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. | Nevro | Redwood City | RSVP TODAY

We continue to bring the foremost thought-leaders and innovators to our events and conferences. Our inaugural Women in Health and Life Sciences Summit is no different. Our afternoon fireside keynote is with Dr. Melanie Matheu, CEO and Co-founder of Prellis Biologics, who will share her vision to eliminate the need for organ donor lists, and the challenges she has faced as a woman in this industry (but it hasn't stopped her from from developing a background in Immunology, Chemistry, Physiology, & Biophysics, just to name a few.

One of the fastest rising CEOs in the Bay Area, Dr. Matheu and her company are creating fully vascularized human tissues and organs for transplantation. Her realization that the tiny blood vessels necessary for creating human organs could be replicated using the laser technology at the center of her PhD thesis work, led to development of the blended engineering and biology approach Prellis is using to solve the human organ shortage. Dr. Matheu is an expert in laser-based imaging of the immune system and developed Prellis' platform technology. She brings her multi-disciplinary experience in specialized laser microscopy, cell biology, physiology, and biophysics to address the unsolved biomedical challenge of rapid 3D printing of large, vascularized tissues.

Check out all the speakers, including Watermark exclusive development and leadership workshops. And as always, thank you to our host and sponsor, Nevro.

Registration is open to everyone however a limited number of registrations will be available. Secure your space, and RSVP TODAY.

Updated: Monday, January 14, 2019

Watermark and the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) have worked closely to discover What Women Want, how to empower them to get it, and what needs to change in the workplace. On January 30th, Jennifer Martineau, author of Kick Some Glass, featuring special guest, Parisa Naseralavi from Cisco, will share insights on what defines the proverbial glass ceiling and how to fulfill your potential. REGISTER TODAY!

In addition, CCL has released Ready to R.I.S.E., which shares new insights from 300 women leaders, 5 Women's Leadership Innovation Labs, 3 continents and 1 diverse world. R.I.S.E.'s four topics included:

  • Reinventing what it means to be a leader, by asking “How do we change the definition of leadership so that women aren’t constrained by male definitions?”
  • Initiating partnerships and conversations, by exploring the headlines we’ll see in five years if women have strong networks.
  • Supporting women and girls by providing spaces to learn to lead, by creating and designing such spaces for women and/or girls.
  • Engaging and educating others about their role in creating the environment that liberates leadership potential in women and girls, by examining what men, governments, organizations, and the media can do to champion women’s and girls’ leadership.

The contents of this report can and should be used by individuals, organizations, and policymakers to consider and act upon relevant and meaningful recommendations to address the many challenges that stand in the way of girls and women filling the leadership pipeline in parity with men. Together, we can make a difference and take a stand.

Updated: Wednesday, December 19, 2018

Welcome to 2019! We want to thank the Watermark Community - our members, sponsors, and partners - for being part of our community that we are taking global. Each of you brings your own experience, knowledge and powerful energy to advance women in positions of leadership.

We have launched into the new year without hesitation by building a number of co-branded workshops, programs, events, and our much anticipated annual Conference for Women next month. Most importantly, Watermark is going global in 2019 with our new digital education platform, The Learning Center (TLC). With the contributions made last year, you helped make your mark on the world with our new technology. The upcoming launch of TLC will bring the Watermark experience to women, and men, in workplaces worldwide, which will feature our webinars, offer certificates of completion, 90 second tips, and more.

In addition, we have a number of Bay Area-based events and workshops coming up. Mark your calendar and get ready to experience the Watermark like never before:

That said, we want to celebrate the growth Watermark experienced in 2018 due to the demand of women to connect, develop and advocate in leadership:

  • New sponsors joined the Watermark movement, including Tesla, BlackRock, Microsoft, Bank of America, Informatica, 24/7.ai, Boston Scientific, Cloudera, Microsoft Ventures, Morgan Stanley, Nevro, Oath Inc a subsidiary of Verizon, Sony PlayStation, Silicon Valley Bank, andTeslaKPMG, NineSigma, Mount Saint Mary's University, and more!

We are moving past the glass ceiling and we want to hear about you kicking glass by sharing updates with us: promotions, new careers, new product or service launches, speaking engagements, and more.

Again, we thank you for being part of our community since our founding over 25 years ago. And as you build your resolutions for the coming year, we have a message for you: Make your mark. Do it today. Be the leader you are inside. Whether you are an emerging leader, a senior executive or an entrepreneur, be the leader you challenge yourself to be each and every day. Make your mark on the world. Be part of Watermark. Together, #WeAreWatermark.
