What a great evening at NetApp in Sunnyvale! Watermark's Wednesday, Jan. 11 Gender Balance: We're Achieving It, and So Can You panel was spot-on, offering excellent tips and tricks to help increase the number of women in leadership positions.

Our panel featured Patty Burke, Strategic Business Partner, Center for Creative Leadership, Gwen Carscadden, Chief People Officer for Intersect ENT, Gunjan Aggarwal, Vice President, Global Head of Talent Acquisition and M&As, Human Resources, Ericsson and Kim McEachron, Chief People Officer, Genomic Health. Intersect ENT and Genomic Health are Watermark Index winners – meaning that 30 percent of more of their top leaders and board members are women. Ericsson is Watermark sponsor.

Many thanks to NetApp, our panelists and volunteers and to all of you who joined us! Among our survey results:

  • "Appreciate the wisdom, savvy and inside look at women's careers and companies."
  • "Very enlightening experience to see so many dynamic women leaders."
  • "Excellent discussion by articulate panelists and the audience."
  • "My first Watermark experience was a valuable one."
  • "Absolutely fantastic, as expected."

And here's a look at our favorite tweets!

If you're not yet a Watermark member and would like to join, please email Danielle Zimmerman for more information. We look forward to seeing you at our Wednesday, Feb. 1 Watermark Conference for Women!

Welcome Aboard, Asha Zahrt

Posted By Mary Thorsby, Tuesday, January 10, 2017
Updated: Saturday, January 21, 2017

Watermark is thrilled to announce our new Marketing and Events law extern, Asha Zahrt!

Asha is finishing her last year of law school at the University of the Pacific-McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. You probably met her at our Make Your Mark Awards in November or at our Pivot with Jenny Blake event in December. You'll get to see her again this week at our Gender Balance event at NetApp!

Asha is a dynamo, no doubt about it. She completed her required coursework in only two and a half years – it typically takes three. So now she's free to focus on Watermark, building her Bay Area professional network and studying for the July 2017 bar exam. Upon graduation and passing the bar, Asha would like to work in the Bay Area as a corporate attorney. She already has plenty of experience, working in various corporate G&A legal departments throughout Silicon Valley and launching two businesses, herself.

"Watermark's goals match my own – especially when it comes to encouraging entrepreneurship and advocating for advancement of women in the workplace," Asha says. “I am excited to join this team of exceptional people who care about our community and making sure that women are represented at the top levels of organizations."

We're excited to have you, Asha! Welcome aboard!

Posted By Mary Thorsby, Saturday, December 24, 2016

As we move into the holiday season and draw 2016 to a close, the staff of Watermark would like to thank you for your active membership, sponsorship and partnership. We always enjoy bringing you fantastic speakers, interactive panels, customized workshops, expansive networking opportunities and our specialized counsel and advocacy as we all strive to increase the number of women in leadership positions.

We've had so many great comments this year. Among our favorites:

  • "Since its inception, Watermark’s impact on our community of women and the professional world has been profound, consistent and lasting.” – Julie Brush, Co-Founder, Solutus Legal Search
  • "Hands-down, Watermark is the best organization for women from all walks of life.” – Laura Corral, CEO and Co-Founder, XXDx
  • “Watermark really gets it. They get who we are and what we want and need.” – Akanke Adefunmi, CEO, Claim Your Shero

We do, indeed, get it. And we are here for you. We support and celebrate you on the way up the corporate ladder, and we lend a hand, contacts and resources when you need a boost.

We are your Watermark community. And we wish you a joyous holiday season and a very successful and fulfilling new year ahead.

Warm wishes,

Marlene, Asa, Mary and Danielle
