Watermark Conference: Our Favorite Photos and Tweets

Posted By Mary Thorsby, Saturday, February 4, 2017

If you were one of the 6,500 Watermark members, colleagues and friends who joined us at our Feb. 1 Watermark Conference for Women Silicon Valley, chances are you’re still talking about the powerful keynotes by Shawn Achor, Annie Clark and Viola Davis (“own your story”) and the incredible conversations between Kara Swisher and Sheryl Sandberg – and wow, the chance to see former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Condoleezza Rice on stage together? How great!

Trending Topic on Twitter, #1 and #2
The San Jose Convention Center was sold out, with participants celebrating the theme: The Power of Us: Amplify Your Voice. We amplified our voices so much that we were the #2 trending topic on Twitter (congrats, Bey!), and at one point during the day, we reached #1!

Great Feedback!
Here’s how a few participants described the conference:

“I felt like I was a part of history.”

“What a PHENOMENAL day of learning, listening, leaning in, absorbing, becoming enlightened and inspired, exploring new emotions, amplifying my voice and meeting amazing kindred spirits – women and men. I am recharged and re-energized to have a positive impact in all of my interactions – professionally and personally.”

“A truly remarkable conference.”

“The personal stories came out from each and every speaker (keynote and breakouts), and they all showed success as a result. Thank you for this rare opportunity, and for empowering us always.”

Watermark Conference in the News

If you missed the media coverage – more than 40 reporters (including from BBC World News, BuzzFeed, Fortune, NBC National, Huffington Post, Bay Area News Group, Politico, San Francisco Chronicle, Silicon Valley Business Journal, Girls in Tech, NBC Bay Area, KPIX-5 and KCBS) were there – here are a few highlights:

Watermark members and potential members: Did you write about the conference? If so, send us your links. We'll be happy to share your stories in future newsletters and here on our blog.

Look for more photos and video this week on our Conference Center page.

Watermark Trial Membership
We had great response to our Watermark Trial Membership – welcome new members! If you didn’t have a chance to sign up, there’s still time! The conference is just one of the more than 50 fantastic events we hold each year. Watermark members receive discounts along with other fantastic benefits. So join us! It’s a six-month membership for just $99. Deadline: Feb. 8. Ready to sign up for a full year? Check out our full membership options.

Thank You, Everyone!
Many thanks to all for another outstanding Watermark Conference for Women – especially to our sponsors and volunteers, and to everyone for sharing #WatermarkConf via social media. What a great day!

Posted By Mary Thorsby, Saturday, January 14, 2017
Updated: Saturday, January 21, 2017

Photos by Michele Nur

What a great evening at NetApp in Sunnyvale! Watermark's Wednesday, Jan. 11 Gender Balance: We're Achieving It, and So Can You panel was spot-on, offering excellent tips and tricks to help increase the number of women in leadership positions.

Our panel featured Patty Burke, Strategic Business Partner, Center for Creative Leadership, Gwen Carscadden, Chief People Officer for Intersect ENT, Gunjan Aggarwal, Vice President, Global Head of Talent Acquisition and M&As, Human Resources, Ericsson and Kim McEachron, Chief People Officer, Genomic Health. Intersect ENT and Genomic Health are Watermark Index winners – meaning that 30 percent of more of their top leaders and board members are women. Ericsson is Watermark sponsor.

Many thanks to NetApp, our panelists and volunteers and to all of you who joined us! Among our survey results:

  • "Appreciate the wisdom, savvy and inside look at women's careers and companies."
  • "Very enlightening experience to see so many dynamic women leaders."
  • "Excellent discussion by articulate panelists and the audience."
  • "My first Watermark experience was a valuable one."
  • "Absolutely fantastic, as expected."

And here's a look at our favorite tweets!

If you're not yet a Watermark member and would like to join, please email Danielle Zimmerman for more information. We look forward to seeing you at our Wednesday, Feb. 1 Watermark Conference for Women!
