Today marks International Women's Day – a day when we celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – and a day when we strengthen our call for accelerating gender parity.

Watermark works steadily, every day, to close the gender gap by increasing the number of women in leadership positions. Our staff is out in full force today giving presentations and workshops at GLOBALFOUNDARIES, Okta, Citrix and other organizations that look to us for expertise and guidance.

We're eager to hear how you're spending the day. Send us a note – we'd love to post a recap.

And what a great day to further demonstrate your support for Watermark by joining our Watermark Leadership Circles! Putting the Brakes on Bad Behavior: Just in Time for International Women's Day

Posted By Mary Thorsby, Friday, February 24, 2017
As you can imagine, we receive a flurry of calls and emails any time sexual harassment occurs in the workplace. Like all of you, we continue to be dismayed when we hear of an organization that mistreats and disrespects anyone – including women. And when it happens within newer, seemingly more progressive companies, it disappoints us even more.

Watermark’s take? First, a big thank you to Susan Fowler for coming forward with her brave account reflecting her ordeal. As Watermark CEO Marlene Williamson noted at our Watermark Conference for Women earlier this month: “I encourage you to be a gender whistle blower. If you see something, say something. If you hear something, do something.”

Susan has done exactly that – and so should we all.

Second, we're heartened when CEOs take the opportunity to stop, admit to mistakes, launch an investigation and make diversity and inclusion a priority. We’re hopeful that their intentions are genuine. The most important question that all CEOs should ask: What kind of corporate culture are they fostering where sexual harassment is tolerated and swept under the rug?

Watermark sponsor companies, members and fans are well-known for fostering inclusive corporate cultures that lead to gender parity and equality. In fact, we’re receiving an equal number of calls and emails asking for speakers in honor of International Women’s Day, March 8.

We’re thrilled to partner with Citrix, Juniper, Global Foundries, OKTA, Gilead and others, scheduling on-site events centered around women in leadership and a chance for those who attended our Watermark Conference to share their experiences and brainstorm ways to weave what they learned into their day-to-day jobs.

Interested in doing the same at your workplace? Send us an email today and we’ll help you plan just the right program.

It's 2017. This sort of behavior by any company is unacceptable. Watermark is here to provide our members, sponsors and followers with expert programming and guidance to support your corporate culture of diversity, inclusiveness – and respect.
