At the 2017 Watermark Leadership Conference, we had a great conversation with executive, board member and author Cammie Dunaway before her panel with Bindu Garapaty, Liz Lawlor and Denise Thomas. Cammie gave us an inside look at her new book, Fit Matters: How to Love Your Job, and gave insightful career advice to women and men.
Cammie's experiences with a seemingly perfect job that didn't align with her natural skills and tendencies inspired her to write Fit Matters. In her book, Cammie shares that "we all deserve to work in a place where we can really use our highest and best talents."
Cammie encouraged women to critically examine which aspects of their job aren't the right fit and then ask, "What are the days when I'm really at my best?" She emphasized that you don't necessarily have to change jobs to improve your situation and find projects that fuel your passion.
Finally, Cammie shared her realization that needs change over the course of your life. Telling her own story of deciding to travel less after her son was born, Cammie encouraged women to be courageous in speaking up and finding an environment that satisfies their needs.
